The Day after

Boxing Day and all is quiet on the Boyd Front. Actually, Gordon has just emerged from his cocoon, I will stir the younger boyds by mid-day.

We had a really great Christmas although my Eldest thinks we are quite boring! The 2 nights prior to Christmas she had escaped by going out with her friends and staying there but Christmas Eve she demanded we play games. This is quite a turnabout as it only seems like five mins ago, we (her parents) were having to coax them to play games. Anyway, she got her wish and a good night was had by everyone. We began by playing Jenga and then the UK Millennium version of Trivial Pursuit. Its fair to say, even Gordon and I are pretty useless at that game but given the kids have spend the last 5.5 yrs in the States, they didn't have much chance really. Anyway, the game came to an abrupt halt, when one of my crowns came off whilst chewing a Roses Toffee. Gordon and Alan made a quick dash to Walgreens but the crown was too badly damaged to repair, so I have spend the last couple of days chewing on my left side.

Christmas morning is becoming later and later as the kids get older. Emily was up first as she had decided she was making French Toast for Breakfast. Alan and Elisabeth were woken at 10am and by 10.45 we were opening our presents. I think everyone was happy with their assortment of gifts, particularly Emily as she had actually provided us with a long wish list of books and CD's she wanted.

Christmas dinner was our traditional fare - Prawns and avocado to start - Turkey, Chesnut stuffing, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, brussel sprouts (for me and Gordon only) and cranberry sauce. Of course before started the main course, we had to pull our crackers and toast Christmas with some nice sparkly wine.

After dinner, we basically recovered! And then in the evening we watched the new DVD Alan had received "Mr and Mrs Smith".

Yesterday the weather was glorious. In fact the weather has been glorious for the past few days , in the mid 70's for Christmas day. Yesterday was a record high of 82f. Anyway, Gordon and I decided to take advantage of the weather and try out a new path to Lake Georgetown.

It was such great weather we actually walked much further than we intended and at the end of walk, even Angus (our dog) was dragging his feet.

Last night we watched another DVD, 'the skeleton Key, followed by few games of UNO

Today we are going to see if anyone is interested in bowling and in the evening Elisabeth is returning to her normal lifestyle in San Marcos.
