my message board entries for the day
subject: bored
constant problem with me, my favourite saying as child was "I'm bored".
The kids went back to school this week (tuesday 16th) and I have been trying to find my rhythm ever since.
Yesterday spent the day with friend painting outside in her garden, followed by a dip in her pool. Made me wish we had one but not likely with 2 lots of college fees looming from next August until probably 2011. Never imagined we would be paying the equivalent of a mortgage in less than 10 yrs. ($204,000). At least so far they have been in state but Son is thinking of Colorado State. Told him he will be getting loans for the balance between in state and out of state fees This weekend we will be looking for a used car for son so I can go out to work. At the moment he is reliant on me taking him to school as he doesn't start until 10.45 am. Aah the joys of being a senior.
Re: I hate grocery shopping!
I hate all shopping, grocery and clothes. I hate grocery shopping because one week someone like this but not that, the following week, it's that and not this. Also despite having an over flowing cupboard, there is always the refrain, 'there is nothing to eat in this house'
Clothing because I am overweight and despite having a better selection of large size clothing, nothing can disguise the fact I am huge. If I go clothes shopping with my kids now, I make sure they have some way of telling the time and we go our seperate ways. We meet up 50 to 60 mins later to decide what of the pile of things they have chosen I will agree to buy.
Hate Housework but have a guilty consious about not doing it (like now ) which stops me from doing other things Hate ironing unless there is something good on TV. Summer is bad time for ironing
Over the yrs have grown tired of PTA's and other committees, so avoid them like a plague.
I like walking the dog but not in high 90 heat or even the high 70s in the morning and its really humid. I really use to love walking my dog in Scotland, when it was raining hard and cool. I would be bundled up in my waterproof jacket, hood up and listening to rain hitting my hood. Or the cool September evenings as the nights began to draw in. Or the cool April mornings, with the morning mist and the sunny glistening on the grass. Get none of that here in TX.
Re: If you could change just one thing
I would change me more than him.
I meet these amazing women through the various classes I attend during the yrs and they knock the pants of me. They always seem busy, busy, busy but not in a bad way, like many men who seem to work for the sake of working.
The friend I met up with yesterday, was a CEO of big company, director of start up company, can sew her own clothes, is a sculptor and painter and basically can set her hand to anything. She retired 2 yrs ago at the age of 48 to become a painter, even though she had barely any experience. Last Jan she was accepted at the New York Studio School to do a MFA.
Most of the women I meet seem to be like her, maybe not in the career sense as many of them like me, have kids, but certainly in the fact they grab life by both hands, shake the pot and see what comes out. It makes me fill so inadequate. I struggle to get through my day every day. Have no focus, am overweight and spend way too much time worrying about the fact I am not doing any thing.
So I would change me! totally.
