Elisabeth's trip to Scotland

The best curry place in Dundee Scotland.

Had a great evening last night as our eldest daughter came to visit for the first time since she returned from the UK on Wednesday. Originally she was meant to be coming here from the airport but she caught a real bad cold a couple of days before her flight. So I told her she would be better going to her apartment in San Marcos and getting the rest she obviously need after her whirl wind trip to Scotland and France.

This was her first visit back home in 3 yrs and she had become increasingly homesick, so when our advance parole came through, she jumped at the chance go back.

She is currently starting her senior year at Texas State University, so her future plans have been uppermost in her mind. She should finish her degree next December. She has decided that she wants to do a PHD in Dundee as she realises Texas isn't the place for her. Before that she will do a 3 month teaching certificate so if she decides to take a year or more out (international fees are horrendous) she can at least teach in the UK.

She has 2 problems, one her boyfriend of 4 yrs who is as red necked as can be (but apart from that a really nice guy) and is horrified by the thought of going to Scotland to live. 2. her green card status, as while she was in Scotland we were all granted (apart from our son who has to attend an interview) permanent resident status. The course she wants to do is 3 yrs and of course that is well beyond the time you are allowed out of the country.

I am sure she will work things out, she has always been the most decisive of our kids. She has her head screwed on much more than I did at her age , 20 but then I still don't know what I am doing at the age of 48! At least if she moves back to the UK, it will give me even more reason to visit, not that I really need a reason to visit the UK, it will always be home.
