A new and happier Day

Well after the trauma of yesterday (bit overstated I know), today I will begin to prepare for our trip. By the time, Gordon had come home yesterday afternoon, he was ok with the idea of the trip and is looking forward to it.

Originally yesterday I was going to talk about the concert, Gordon and I attended at Stubbs BBQ. I was watching Jay Leno one night a few months ago and on came a band called Nickel Creek Unlike the rest of my family, I am not a music fiend, so when a name of a band sticks, I must like it. Anyway, Gordon was browsing the internet and noticed they were on live at Stubbs last Friday.

Again, I not a fan of concerts, particularly in these open air venues in the back of the Bar. I am a short person. I cannot see much, once several hundred people, who are much taller than me, stand in front of me. I don't see much point in standing for several hours, not to see anything. However, I decided that it would be good to go out for a night for a change.

So last Thursday I booked the tickets. I am really glad I did. Wow, it was crowded, the largest crowd I had seen at Stubbs. The first act, was ok but not brilliant. As Gordon said, he, (Martin Sexton ) really was a guy,

in search of 4 piece Jazz band for part of the time and when he sang his ballads, well, I could have gone to sleep, if I hadn't of been standing. He finished at about 8.45.

Gordon went to get a couple of drinks but came back empty handed as it was way too busy. By 9.15, I was getting mighty impatient, waiting for the main act (we had been standing in the same spot since about 7.15). About 10 mins later, Nickel Creek finally came to the stage and it was well worth the wait. They were absolutely great. Even though I could only occaisionally see them on stage (their heads at that), I could just tell from their music, they were having a great time on stage. The concert finally finished at about 11.20, after 3 encores and some background music from another bar. That was quite funny actually, here we are listening to quality music and suddenly there is this heavy metal/thrash/punk sound in the background.

Anyway, I would highly recommend Nickel Creek.
